Acute Back Pain Study

Principal Investigator Dr. Shathabish Kariyanna is currently seeking volunteers to participate in a clinical research study to evaluate a new, non-opioid, investigational medication for patients suffering from back pain due to or associated with muscle spasms.

The RESUME study involves an investigational drug that is a non-opioid alternative for acute pain. This study measures how well this investigational drug works in decreasing your pain and how your body tolerates the drug.

Do You Qualify?

Muscle spasms are quick cramping of a muscle or a group of muscles. These spasms can be painful and limit your ability to perform daily activities. The pain must be sudden onset back pain not caused by a long-term (chronic) condition.

You may be eligible to participate in the RESUME study if you:

  • Are 18 – 64 years of age
  • Are able to walk
  • Have sudden onset of back pain associated with muscle spasms not caused by a long term (chronic) condition
  • Are willing to discontinue all other non-study provided medications or treatments for pain/muscle spasm
  • Meet other study eligibility criteria

Eligible participants will be compensated for their time, and they will receive study-related procedures, treatment, and medical care at no cost.
